Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nReporting to the Production Manager - Custom Switchboards, this position constructs large steel switchboard structures largely by hand using hand/power tools, ladders, machines, jigs/fixtures and other manufacturing equipment. Candidates require excellent mechanical aptitude, experience using torque tools, good ability to communicate in English, and the physical ability to perform the work (includes heavy lifting, prolonged periods of standing and frequent use of awkward postures such as bending, kneeling and overhead reaching). \n \nThere is no wiring (electrical assembly) in this role. \n \nSpecifically, the successful candidate will: \n\u2022 Build large switchboard structures and internal subassemblies using pre-fabricated metal parts (steel and copper), following engineering schematics and electrical drawings. \n\u2022 Mount and brace parts and subassemblies inside structures. \n\u2022 Construct custom skids using power saw and nail gun. \n\u2022 Ensure use of proper hardware, correct torque and consistent fastening methods. \n\u2022 Identify design issues and raise them through the correct channels. \n\u2022 Visually inspect parts and material for conformance to quality standards and customer specifications. \n\u2022 Modify parts using machines and power tools. \n\u2022 Repair or rework issues detected during the inspection/test stage of the job.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications: \n\u2022 High School Diploma or equivalent additional experience \n\u2022 Minimum 12 months experience in mechanical assembly using power tools. \n\u2022 Experience using torque tools. \n\u2022 Legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future. \n\u2022 No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must reside within 80 KM of Milton, ON to be considered. \n \nPreferred Qualifications: \n\u2022 Post-secondary education or a technical certificate in a mechanical trade. \n\u2022 Experience using Outlook, ADP, Oracle and Inventor. \n\u2022 Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes (Kanban, 5S+, MRB) and Six Sigma Tools. \n\n## Skills:\n\nPosition Criteria: \n\u2022 Proven aptitude for complex mechanical work. \n\u2022 Must be able to speak, read and write English effectively. \n\u2022 Strong work ethic. \n\u2022 Able to visualize and plan the assembly of a switchboard structure. \n\u2022 Excellent attitude towards quality, safety, continuous improvement and teamwork. \n\u2022 Functional with computers, in order to use a variety of digital business tools (email, ADP, electronic models, eLearning modules).\n\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy.\n\nAt Eaton we leverage artificial intelligence to recommend jobs to you that match the skills and experience required for the open role.
