Job Description - Mechanical Designer - Cryogenics Systems
About Anyon System:
Anyon Systems Inc. is a quantum computing company located in the Greater Montreal Region. We work at the cutting edge of technology to develop and commercialize quantum computing solutions. As we continue to grow rapidly, we are expanding both our hardware and software capabilities to push the boundaries of what is technologically possible. We offer a friendly and collaborative work environment, competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to tackle exciting challenges that contribute to shaping the future of quantum computing.
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our Cryogenics Team, where you will help develop novel systems capable of cooling quantum processors to temperatures near absolute zero.
About the Role
In this role, you will draw heavily on your expertise in mechanical design, SolidWorks, PDM, and finite element analysis (FEA) to develop commercial cryogenic hardware for quantum computing. You will create and manage high-quality CAD models and drawings using robust PDM workflows. As part of a small and dynamic team, your responsibilities will also extend to prototyping, assembly, and testing of mechanical and cryogenic subsystems.
You will rely on sound engineering judgment, strong documentation practices, and critical thinking to deliver high-quality, manufacturable designs that meet demanding performance, reliability, and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities
Design components and assemblies for cryogenic and quantum computing systems.
Develop high-quality CAD models and detailed mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
Manage CAD data and workflows using SolidWorks PDM, including version control and documentation standards.
Perform and document FEA simulations (structural, thermal, vibrational) to support design decisions.
Develop, implement, and maintain standards for CAD modeling and drawing practices.
Contribute to fabrication, assembly, prototyping, and testing of designed systems.
Collaborate closely with cryogenics, electronics, fabrication, and product engineering teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
5+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks, including advanced part modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
Hands-on experience using SolidWorks PDM (Professional or Enterprise), with strong understanding of workflows and revision control.
Experience performing FEA simulations, using tools such as SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, or COMSOL.
Knowledge of vacuum engineering or cryogenics is a strong asset.
Experience with mechanical assembly, machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, or other manufacturing processes is an asset.
Skills
Mastery of 3D CAD modeling and professional mechanical drawing creation.
Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to design aesthetically appealing, functional, and reliable components following sound engineering principles.
Strong initiative, critical thinking, and a solution-oriented mindset.
Resourcefulness and adaptability in a fast-moving R&D environment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
