Your future role


Take on a key leadership role in a collaborative engineering environment. As a Structural Design Mechanical Lead Engineer (STR MLE), you will lead the development of carbody structures for major rail projects, ensuring high-quality design delivery aligned with project requirements, timelines, and certification standards.


You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders to develop robust design solutions and support the successful delivery of innovative rail vehicles.


 


Key responsibilities



  • Lead the full requirements lifecycle, from analysis to validation and certification

  • Develop and deliver carbody structure (CBS) design solutions aligned with project specifications

  • Prepare and manage technical documentation for carbody shell and crash requirements

  • Coordinate with engineering teams (FEA, crash, weight) to ensure design integrity

  • Oversee the design team and support problem-solving and issue resolution

  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across designs, simulations, and deliverables

  • Review and validate deliverables to ensure quality and compliance standards

  • Support manufacturing, sourcing, and industrialization during project execution

  • Monitor performance (quality, cost, delivery) and escalate risks with mitigation plans

  • Contribute to system architecture and certification/validation plans


Your profile



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s an asset)

  • Member of the OIQ

  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design of complex assemblies (transport industry an asset)

  • Strong knowledge of welded structures and geometric tolerancing

  • Experience working in or with manufacturing environments

  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills in a project setting

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit
