The Opportunity:

MCW is currently looking for a self-motivated Mechanical Construction Administrator to join our Vancouver office.You will act as the primary point of contact for MCW throughout the course of construction. Working on multiple projects concurrently This position plays a key role in managing MCWs mechanical engineering projects by attending site meetings, providing feedback while maintaining a respectful relationship with Developers, Clients, Architects, General Contractors, Sub Trades and Suppliers. Salary Range: $75,000K - $90,000K

What you will get up to:

  • Attend site meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Conduct regular field reviews of the mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection) work occurring onsite.
  • Reviewing the construction work against the MCW design documents (drawings and specifications) as well as against applicable codes.
  • Review monthly contractor progress claims for accuracy and validity.
  • Review mechanical contractor change orders and quotation associated with additional work for accuracy and validity.
  • Liaise with the general contractor, sub-trades, Project Manager, Job Captain and Project Engineers throughout construction to respond to and address site related issues.
  • Attend and conduct life-safety system demonstrations with consultant contractor groups. Witness system testing and verify functionality of systems.
  • Attend and conduct Building Management System demonstrations and verify functionality of systems.
  • Review the BMS graphical interface for accuracy and functionality.
  • Review mechanical trade documentation issued near occupancy (ie: Balancing Reports) for accuracy.
  • Review Operational & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals received from the mechanical contractor for accuracy and validity.
  • Review red-line record drawings received from the mechanical contractor for accuracy and validity.
  • Travel to site and perform inspections on various mechanical and plumbing installations.
  • Serve as main point of contact for the builder for any project-related questions/requests.
  • Understand project specifications and objectives and investigate claims promptly and resolve them fairly.
  • Proactively identify potential issues.
  • Report onmilestone dates and deliverables.
  • Proactive approach to change orders.
  • Issue and sign off on Site Deficiency Reports, verify and accept As Built Drawings and Operational and Maintenance Manuals and ensure all required information has been received prior to issuance of Closing Letters.
  • Provide customer service levels that meet or exceed customers' expectations.
  • Actively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Overtime as required.

What we are looking for:

Qualifications, Experience and Education:

  • Educational or trade background in mechanical design (mechanical HVAC systems, plumbing). Design background in building technology is a definite asset.
  • Experience in building inspection.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of HVAC, Plumbing/Fire Protection, construction methods and the applicable code requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills, bothwritten and verbal.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with other departments.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Team and client focused.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible.

Required Skills:

  • Candidates must have a good working knowledge of current construction practices, including working drawing production and construction inspections, as well as specifications, contracts and consultant agreements.
  • Experience and knowledge of building systems HVAC, Plumbing, Air Handling, Water, Mechanical & Fire Systems is an asset
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Email applications
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the codes and standards such as the BC Building Code / BC Plumbing Code.

Requirement:

  • Must have vehicle and valid driver’s license for the province of British Columbia.
