About the Organization:


The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) is a regional social planning and development organization dedicated to serving Indigenous communities across Simcoe County, Muskoka, and York Region. Through innovative programs and services, BANAC supports community well-being with a focus on Indigenous values, knowledge, and leadership.


One of BANAC’s cornerstone initiatives is the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Primary Care Team, an Interprofessional Health Care Team that offers wholistic, culturally safe health services. Mamaway provides primary care, mental health support, traditional healing, and health promotion tailored to meet the unique needs of Indigenous individuals and families.


Our services are delivered in clinic settings, in the community, and in partnership with mainstream service providers, ensuring accessible, coordinated care grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being.


 


About the Role:


The Medical Office Administrator (MOA) plays a vital role in the daily operations and overall success of Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin clinics and Indigenous health services. This position supports the planning, development, and coordination of healthcare delivery, ensuring efficiency and cultural sensitivity across all areas of service.


As an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, the MOA works closely with a range of healthcare professionals—including Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, the Traditional Healing Coordinator, Therapists, Health Promoters, and others—to foster a collaborative and wholistic care environment.


The role offers meaningful opportunities for engagement with healthcare providers, clients, and community members, contributing to the delivery of inclusive, responsive, and respectful care in Indigenous communities.


 


What You Bring:



  • Relevant knowledge and experience attained through graduation from a recognized College/University in Medical Office Administration or related

  • Phlebotomy certificate and experience and asset

  • Previous experience working within the Indigenous community, combined with knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety and Indigenous cultural practices.

  • A minimum of 3 year’s experience in a similar position preferably in the nonprofit community health or social service sector

  • Previous experience in community health/social services and/or values based organization an asset

  • Previous experience working with interdisciplinary teams

Information About Working at BANAC Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin:



  • Work is typically performed in clinic, office and community

  • Regular travel to meetings and communities, will be required – vehicle an asset

  • Regular overtime work may be required from time to time, BANAC team members enjoy a flex schedule agreement

  • Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: Tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar.


 


Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:



  • Worksite location

  • Valid P.R. and A.E.D. Certificates required

  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License is required with clear check for vulnerable sector
