Member of Board of Directors

The Pavilion Women's Centre offers services to women who have experienced abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.  We approach our work in a culturally sensitive manner and in both official languages with a Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed approach.  Our aim is to support individuals to take control of issues affecting their health and their lives.  The Centre also works for the prevention of violence against women and children.

The board meets approximately 5-8 times per year.

Job Description:

1. Obtains a clear criminal records security check.


2. Read, understand, follow and apply the agency's policy manual with special attention to
   
   
   
   
   • harassment and violence-free workplace
   
   
   • communication
   
   
   • decision making
   
   
   • code of conduct
   
   
   • conflict of interest
   
   
   • conflict resolution
   
   
   • grievance
   
   
   
   


3. Participates positively in constructive group and meeting process, including both giving and receiving constructive criticism and feedback;


4. Support the establishment and maintenance of a respectful and efficient working environment, free from harassment and violence.


5. Establish and maintain appropriate boundaries in relationships among Board members, staff, volunteers and service users.


6. Attend all Board meetings, the organization's Annual General Meetings and other meetings as required. 


7. Join and participate in at least one committee.

Skills:  The Pavilion Women's Centre willingly accepts applications from board members with a variety of skills and experiences that may include:  finance, administration, fundraising and/or marketing, non-profit board experience and/or lived experience of violence.
