Position Title: Member Services and Innovation Specialist 

Department: Member Services and Innovation 

Location: Toronto 

Status: Contract (Hybrid) 

Day in the life of: 

The Member Services and Innovation Specialist reports to the Director, Member Services and Innovation, and is responsible for developing, coordinating, supporting and implementing CIRO’s Member-related education and engagement activities. They also support the Director in the development and execution of CIRO’s initiatives to support transformation and innovation in the Canadian investment industry and in assisting CIRO and member firms in identifying and managing emerging risks and trends. 

Core Responsibilities: 

• Develop educational materials, training manuals, presentations and online resources for Members and approved persons, and other external stakeholders. 

• Present and deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and seminars for members at all levels, and support CIRO staff as needed to do the same. 

• Collaborate with other departments to identify member education needs and priorities. 

• Plan and execute CIRO conferences and events. 

• Research and analyze market trends, technologies, and regulatory changes impacting members. 

• Develop and implement strategies to support members in leveraging innovations and mitigating risks. 

• Build relationships with members and support on innovation and risk-related matters. 

• Support the intake and resolution of member and industry inquiries, as needed. 

• Evaluate the effectiveness of education programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. 

• Support other CIRO departments, including the Office of the Investor and Membership Intake, as required from time to time. 

Education and Experience: 

• Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the investment industry and financial regulation. 

• Knowledge of Canadian securities regulatory environment.  

• Experience in compliance, operational or other related investment industry experience, and knowledge of dealer operations, policies, and procedures. 

• Experience with delivering presentations and communicating to large groups and organizations.  

• Project Management experience an asset. 

• University degree and/or related securities industry experience. Professional designation an asset 

• Other relevant industry and/or management courses (e.g. the Canadian Securities Course, the Conduct and Practices Handbook Course and/or the Branch Managers Course (preferable), Chief Financial Officers or the Chief Compliance Officers Qualifying Exam)
