Position Status: One (1) Full-time (40 hours/week) Permanent Position  

 
Reporting to the Métis Family Resource Program Supervisor, the Métis Family Resource Program Team Lead will support the day-to-day activities associated with providing culturally sensitive supports to Métis children and families involved with the child intervention system. The Métis Family Resource Program (MFRP) Team Lead will provide direct supervision to the Métis Family Resource Workers as well as the MFRP Implementation Coordinator. The MFRP Team Lead will act as a bridge to the Program Supervisor, Manager and senior leadership of the Children and Family Services department, ensuring the completion of projects on time and in alignment with departmental goals.  The successful candidate must have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a passion for helping Métis children and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day coordination and oversight of MFRP programming, events, and supports in collaboration with the Program Supervisor.


• Support the implementation of MFRP policies and procedures by ensuring cohesion and reporting implementation issues to the supervisor for follow-up.


• Provide direct case management for moderately complex files and support front-line staff in navigating challenging cases.


• Support the maintenance and consistent application of program processes and procedures to ensure operational efficiency.


• Assist in reviewing program plans and materials to ensure alignment with established timelines, milestones, and quality standards.


• Promote and uphold the values and priorities of the MFRP in daily operations and team practices.


• Monitor and communicate staff and program needs or gaps to the MFRP Supervisor and contribute to identifying areas for growth and improvement.


• Liaise with internal team members and support communication with external partners and community members, as appropriate.


• Assist with the preparation of presentations and support the delivery of training to stakeholders and community groups, as directed.


• Provide feedback to the MFRP Supervisor on staffing needs, performance, and team development to inform hiring, onboarding, and evaluation processes.


• Conducting regular check-ins, performance evaluations, and supporting professional development plans for direct reports.


• Build and maintain positive relationships with Métis children, families, and communities to inform and support program delivery.


• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Children and Family Services department and Otipemisiwak Métis Government.


• Collaboration with government partners or delegated agencies.


• Other duties as required or assigned.

• Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and Métis culture, people, and values.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.


• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity is preferred.


• Working knowledge of the Child and Youth Enhancement Act, Act C-92, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and Protection of Personal Information Act.


• Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.

Other Requirements 

• Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required.


• Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.


• Must be willing to travel within Alberta and work irregular hours, on occasion, to meet program needs.


• Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.


• Acceptable attainment and annual maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check is required.
