Job Description - Millwright

Location: Brossard, Quebec (CA-QC)
Assignment : Permanent


Hours of work: 40 hours per week
# of openings: 1
Salary: $43.82/hour; Step 2*: $46.74/hour (*After 90 worked days) 



Your role


Do you enjoy building, modifying, installing, and maintaining canal machinery and mechanical equipment—whether in the shop or out in the field? Are you driven to ensure the Seaway system operates at peak performance and reliability?

Your responsibilities



  • Perform mechanical maintenance, and inspect, repair, dismantle, and assemble machinery, locks, bridges, and both light and heavy equipment;

  • Modify or fabricate parts for machinery and structures of locks, bridges, and buildings, according to specifications;

  • Assemble, install, test, maintain, and repair equipment and machinery;

  • Perform hydraulic maintenance and inspect diesel and gas engines;

  • Assist with civil work and operate lifting equipment, as required;

  • Unload, load, and transport heavy machinery and equipment;

  • Complete standard maintenance field reports;

  • Perform minor welding and cutting repairs.


 


Your profile



  • Diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) in Industrial Mechanics in Quebec, or a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent in Ontario;

  • Holder of a Certificate of Qualification in Industrial Mechanics (CCQ) – Millwright;

  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in maintenance, installation, and inspection of heavy equipment and mechanical systems;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical manuals;

  • Practical knowledge of mechanical and rigging procedures and techniques;

  • Eligible for marine transportation security clearance;

  • Available to undergo a medical examination, functional capacity assessment, and drug screening;

  • Valid driver’s license (Class G in Ontario or Class 5 in Quebec) with an insurable driving record;

  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and near open water;

  • Ability to communicate effectively in French, both verbally and in writing.
