POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the In Mold labeling (IML) Machine Operator is responsible for safety, quality, and attainment of production for their assigned group of machines during the shift. In order to achieve this, it is the responsibility of the IML Machine Operator to ask for necessary support and help on a timely basis from the Process Engineer/Process Technician or the Shift Supervisor to be assured of success on their shift.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for following lockout/tagout procedure anytime maintenance work needs to be performed on the machine and auxiliary equipment Shutdown and restart IML machine Dial in proper process if needed Ensure the machine is running to the master set-up sheet Perform basic setup of robot if required and basic troubleshooting of defective parts Respond to machine alarms and escalate to the Process Technician/Engineer within 15 minutes if troubleshooting is not successful Perform magazine adjustment if labels are not centered or aligned, report to SS/PT if correction is not improves in 10 to 15 minutes For new job the IML Machine Operator must put job card with appropriate machine cart in W/H for request for required labels Once W/H supply labels scan with job card, retrieve barcode sticker and place on job card Quality check labels for print and size before using Perform label magazine changes when product change over happens Perform Lock-out, Tag Out on the Robot equipment before servicing Check and validate vision system twice per shift, check UPC barcode readers are working once per shift Perform daily checklists and cleaning Perform in-process quality checks such as weight, OD, wall thickness etc. using proper gauges at specified intervals Maintain SPC charts and escalate to process technician/engineer if abnormal conditions are encountered Record all down time reasons in line inspection sheet as well as running and deviations of machine proves parameters in set-up sheet Manage inventory of label usage Segregate scrap for analysis Complete the mold run data sheet Complete the robot/mold checklist upon completion of cleaning and inspection Enter down time code, in Mattec unit/Online computer Communicate quality issues and necessary information that would provide the next Machine Operator with success to achieve shift attainment SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience/Field: Previous experience operating injection Molding Machine, IML experience would be an asset. Good mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
Courses Required: Certificate from plastics training facilities would be an asset
Communication Skills: Proven track record working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills
Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of basic automation and hydraulics would be an asset.
