About the role:

Reporting to the Information Technology/Infrastructure Superintendent, the Network and Infrastructure Administrator plays an important role in providing timely and efficient technical assistance and support to our organization.

In this role, you will be asked to:

  • Support the infrastructure components/systems, through administration and maintenance activities (i.e. backups, upgrades, etc.), to ensure the availability, reliability and integrity of services provided to the company's client/user community
  • Handle client service requests, through the complete cycle of receiving a request, investigating/troubleshooting, identifying a solution, and resolving the problem. A root cause analysis is then undertaken to identify the underlying problem beyond the immediate symptoms.
  • Compile infrastructure management data, using a variety of manual and automated tools, to track the performance and availability of infrastructure components and services
  • Discover and analyze information management technologies and solutions, assessing their capabilities and opportunities to improve the efficiency of the site's infrastructure. Recommendations are then made based on the technical merits of the solution.
  • Perform project management functions during all phases of the project cycle, including project definition, planning, scheduling, costing, initiation, execution, closure, post-project review, to ensure that project benefits are delivered on time and on budget
  • Communicate and disseminate information, through written reports and group presentations, to inform clients of issues/opportunities affecting infrastructure components, in terms both understandable to the client and IT resource communities
  • Acquire and implement new technology, through test labs, limited pilots and final implementation, to ensure continuous delivery of technology services and solutions that work well for the site's client/user community
  • Administer access to infrastructure components, while monitoring, enabling and restricting access, to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and security of the service and associated data
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of outsourcing partners, prioritizing, delegating and reviewing the quality of work, so that the client can continue to perform their job and functions within the company
  • Compile and analyze data, gathering data/statistics, analyzing trends, to help prepare strategies and business cases
  • Perform tasks and responsibilities at the departmental level of the IT group when required
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IT technologies that relate to business needs. Must help IT users get the most out of their respective working environments by promoting efficiency and autonomy.
  • Manage and support our sites' communications infrastructure when it comes to networks
  • Be able to travel periodically to different locations in North America.
  • Manage security requirements and ensure that security incidents are dealt with (security tool reports, security vouchers and patch vulnerability)
  • Update the status of support activities, including work order details, solutions, and follow-up
  • Analyze data to identify trends, recurring problems, and opportunities to improve proceses
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles and system documentation
  • Collaborate with other IT teams, including other network/infrastructure administrators, system administrators, programmers and developers, the Technical Services Supervisor, Regional IT and Global IT technical teams, etc. to ensure efficient problem resolution
  • Liaise with external suppliers and service providers for the repair or replacement of capital equipment
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, representing the interests and needs of the infrastructure team

Skills:

  • Proven professional experience as a network/infrastructure analyst or in a comparable role, with responsibility for network and IT asset management
  • At least 10 years' work experience in network and fleet management
  • Solid technical knowledge of computer systems, hardware and software, as well as network troubleshooting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, self-motivated and willing to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
  • Ability to work well in a team, but also to demonstrate autonomy in certain situations



Languages: Bilingual (French and English).
