Description:
 

Our enterprise client in Edmonton, Alberta has an upcoming need for a Network Specialist in Edmonton, Alberta. This will be a 3-month, hybrid-based, contract employment opportunity with a strong possibility of extension. The successful Network Specialist candidate will be required to work on-site in downtown Edmonton 3 days per week, focusing primarily on patching / maintenance focused tasks, in addition to other ongoing projects and initiatives. Our client has asked us to proactively meet with qualified Network Specialist candidates in the coming weeks, due to an expected upcoming opening on their team.

Technical Skills:

* Working knowledge of key network infrastructure components, including:

• Proxy servers and services (such as application level, ex: F5)
• Network switches, router, firewalls
• Core network switches and virtual switches
• Networking technologies such as routing protocols (ex: OSPF), spanning tree, fail-over services, WAN acceleration, MPLS, WAN, SDWAN services, VMWare NSX-T, etc.
• Telephony services (ex: Cisco UC, voice gateways, etc.

* Strong documentation skills and attention to detail

* Self-motivated, organized, customer focused, and effective communicator

* Effective time management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

* Problem solving, results driven and action-oriented when working on assigned tasks

Requirements - Technical & Education:

• 3+ years’ experience in Palo Alto NGFW or equivalent would be an asset.
• 3+ years’ experience with design, support, maintenance, and integration of large-scale IT infrastructure systems, with a specialization in networking.
• 3+ years in system support, maintenance, and support role.
• Completed Diploma or Degree in Computing Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• CompTIA Network+ and Security+ would be an asset.
• Cisco CCNP and CCNA would be an asset.
