Salary: Level 9 Step 1 ($4,062.00 biweekly)

Reporting to the Director of Ni'ehłyat, Nidähjì’ (Our Families, Our Future), the Policy Advisor provides evidenced-based research and reports by analyzing and providing advice on legislation, policies and procedures, and on a wide range of Ni'ehłyat, Nidähjì’ issues such as inherent Aboriginal treaty rights, governance and social policy.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
• An advanced post-secondary degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant field (law, social sciences, business, health, environmental studies, humanities, governance), as well as a minimum of three years of experience working in policy or related field for government (preferably a Yukon First Nation government). An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, experience and skills may be considered.
• Experience leading policy, legislation and/or research projects.
• Experience working on internal and intergovernmental/cross-agency policies, strategies and/or action plans.
• Knowledge of research and policy tools and methods.
• Strong research and project management skills.
• Working knowledge of TH social structures, traditions, cultural values, and of the health, social and family issues affecting TH Citizens.
• Strong knowledge of holistic case management and trauma informed practices.
• Knowledge of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Constitution, Final Agreement and Self Government Agreement.
Assets:
· Experience drafting funding proposals is an asset.
· Knowledge of Bill-C92 and the Government of Yukon’s Child and Family Services Act is an asset.
