NOC 85102 - Aquaculture and marine harvest labourers

Job Summary

Perform hands -on work in aquaculture facilities and marine harvest operations to support production and harvesting activities. Maintain equipment, handle stock, and follow safety and environmental procedures to ensure product quality.

Main Duties

• Feed, monitor and inspect fish or shellfish for health, growth, and signs of disease or mortality.
• Operate, clean and maintain nets, pens, cages, tanks and associated aquaculture equipment; perform routine repairs as needed.
• Assist with harvesting, sorting, grading, packing and loading of aquaculture products for transport.
• Deploy, retrieve and inspect gear from boats or shore, and perform basic underwater or deck tasks as required.
• Record production data, stock counts and observations accurately and report issues to supervisors.
• Follow biosecurity, environmental and workplace safety procedures, including handling and disposal of waste and chemicals as directed.

Requirements

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying and working in varied weather conditions.
• Comfort working on boats and in marine environments, and willingness to work at heights or in confined spaces when required.
• Basic reading, writing and numeracy skills to complete logs, counts and production records; secondary education preferred.
• Previous experience in aquaculture, commercial fishing, marine harvest or related manual labour is an asset.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, which may include early mornings, weekends and overtime during peak seasons.
• Ability to meet workplace health and safety standards and medical fitness requirements for marine work.
