Location: Oshawa, Ontario


Status: Regular Full Time


Band: (Society) P3
Education level: 4 year university degree, preferably in Nuclear Engineering or Engineering

JOB OVERVIEW


Provide technical evaluation, considerations and proposals, as required by LEP projects. Maintain instructions and procedures up to date, prepare reports, review proposals from external organizations. On a periodic basis, supervise assigned staff involved in the above activities.


 


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Working in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations:



  • Prepare or help prepare specifications for Engineering, with focus on Nuclear Safety aspects. Support preparation of bid packages and Scope of Work documents for purchasing analysis services.

  • Review proposals received from internal or external sources related to assigned area. Discuss proposal with originator as necessary to suggest changes or revisions as appropriate. Recommend disposition of proposal to Supervisor in writing for review and forwarding to approval authority.

  • Prepare reports and other documentation for external clients, such as Safety Reports. Initiate studies or investigations where opportunities for improvement are apparent. Collect and analyze data, deliver presentations and organize stakeholder meetings. Provide explanations and answers to questions received from recipients of reports.

  • Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and coordinate technical work as required, in a number of major work areas, in support of LEP projects and facilities. Receive assignments from Supervisor as well as identify potential problems and opportunities in assigned areas.

  • Maintain and/or update department/divisional procedures. Receive assignments relating to procedures from Supervisor or identify potential problems and opportunities.

  • On a periodic basis, supervise staff involved in the above activities by assigning and checking work and as required give instructions and direction.

  • Participate in training programs to further own development and assist in the development of others. Develop training material and give lectures, set and mark examinations and otherwise assist in training programs.

  • Other Duties as Required



EXPERIENCE


We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have: 



  • Requires training and experience in the design, development or operation of a nuclear facility or in the development, manufacture or production of nuclear materials or components in an industrial environment.

  • Requires experience to solve problems, to provide advice and guidance, to initiate developmental studies and to make recommendations during the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility; to evaluate components or materials, and to perform economic studies and evaluations associated with the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility.
