Oil Burner Mechanic (TCB - Behchoko)

Tłı̨chǫ Community Builders (TCB) is 100% owned by the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC). We are currently accepting applications for the following position located in Behchoko, NT:

Oil Burner Mechanic (Oil Heat Systems Technician) (Term Position)

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications


• Perform scheduled maintenance and service


• Lay out oil burner heating system components and assemble components using proper tools


• Provide final inspections of systems once repairs are completed to ensure all equipment is operating safely


• Complete appropriate daily paperwork for each service call


• Identifying deficiencies and determining repairs


• Perform other duties as required to maintain and enhance departmental productivity


• Supervision/training of apprentices and skilled labour as required


• Assisting in inventory and compiling material lists


• Assisting other tradesmen in emergency situations


• Travel to other communities and worksites to perform duties as required for business purposes

Requirements:

• Licensed Oil Burner Heating Technician (Oil Burner Mechanic)


• Experienced in plumbing system is preferred


• Experienced in propane systems an asset


• 5+ years of experience an asset


• Good communication and organizational skills


• Ability to work independently and productively


• Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence


• Ability to work overtime and on-call


• Ability to navigate computer and/or handheld applications


• Ability to speak/understand the Tlicho language would be considered an asset

This position requires an individual with proven ability to work in a cross cultural, diverse environment demonstrating cultural awareness and sensitivity.  Candidates must be open and flexible to perform other duties as required. Preference will be given to applicants who are NWT residents. Rotational shifts are available for out-of-town residents, must be able to work 60 hours/week.

This is a term position working from Monday to Friday, and weekends if needed. TCB offers a competitive remuneration package.
