We are seeking experienced On-Call Medical Equipment Repair Technicians to support the clinical simulation labs at Stenberg College and Canadian College across Duncan, Kamloops, Kelowna, and Prince George. This contract opportunity is ideal for skilled technicians who enjoy flexible, on-demand work and take pride in ensuring healthcare simulation equipment remains safe, reliable, and fully operational.


About the Role


Our nursing and healthcare programs rely on clinical simulation equipment to provide students with realistic, hands-on learning experiences. As an on-call technician, you will provide timely troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance support for simulation equipment and related lab devices, helping ensure our students and instructors have access to fully functioning learning environments.


This is an on-call contract position with no guaranteed weekly hours. Service requests will be assigned on an as-needed basis. 




  • Employment Type: Contract, on-call



  • Locations: Duncan, Kamloops, Kelowna, and Prince George, BC


  • Compensation:



    • Hourly Rate:

      • Duncan: $50/hour

      • Kamloops: $50/hour

      • Kelowna: $50/hour

      • Prince George: $55/hour



    • Minimum call-out charge: 2 hours

    • Paid per service call; no guaranteed weekly hours

    • Must be located in or near one of the listed communities


     




Key Responsibilities



  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair clinical simulation equipment, including patient simulation manikins, vital signs monitors, IV pumps, and other healthcare training devices.

  • Perform routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance as required.

  • Provide repair timelines and cost estimates before beginning work.

  • Source and recommend replacement parts when needed.

  • Respond promptly to service requests and provide updates on repair progress.

  • Complete repairs safely and effectively while following manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.

  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate recommendations for ongoing equipment maintenance. 


Qualifications



  • Proven experience repairing biomedical, clinical, medical, simulation, or electronic equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently.

  • Comfortable assessing and troubleshooting equipment issues remotely before an on-site visit when appropriate.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Reliable, responsive, and able to provide on-site support within the assigned location.

  • Manufacturer certification, biomedical engineering training, or CMBES membership is considered an asset but is not required.
