ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)



The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the T’exelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

POSITION


As part of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, the incumbent will effectively provide maintenance services using strong diagnostic, repair, and organization skills to coordinate repairs, purchase supplies, schedule preventative maintenance, and report on specific issues for buildings and facilities. This role requires a self-starter and organized individual who is an excellent communicator and can work well in a team environment.



Employment Type


Full time, 40 hours per week.


 


Probation Period


3 months from the date of hire.


 


Education Required



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Related degree from a technical college.


 


Experience Required



  • Minimum 6 month to one year experience maintenance or related experience.


 


Overtime Status


Non-exempt.


 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Performs day-to-day ground maintenance duties for all assigned buildings, developing an organized approach to repairs and scheduling preventative maintenance.

  • Collects and removes garbage and recyclable materials and ensures the safe disposal of hazardous waste.

  • Ensures building and equipment meet all safety, security, and fire regulations and policies. Make recommendations for major repairs and purchases to O&M Manager.

  • Performs minor gardening and lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, pruning, and watering.

  • Assist other team members if needed in their duties to ensure timely and complete delivery of service to our clients.

  • Transports equipment, furniture, and supplies manually and/or using aids such as dollies and carts. Operates a motor vehicle to pick up and move goods and supplies. Arrange furniture for special events.

  • Act in various capacities, supporting maintenance in general terms.

  • Complete and maintain related records such as maintenance logs and security incident reports.

  • Keep repair tools and supplies clean and organized.

  • Snow removal from WLFN buildings or Elders walkways.

  • Wood gathering for Elders.

  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment.

  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and building systems.

  • Respond to and complete tenant, O&M Manager, or Housing Manager maintenance requests.

  • Acts as a customer service advocate, accelerating the resolution of customer concerns.

  • Ensure a safe work environment is always maintained with a commitment to working safely.

  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Williams Lake First Nation.

  • Contribute to the WLFN’s ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.
