St. Francis Xavier University is a top-ranking Canadian university. We are seeking a seasonal labourer (7 months per year). This position will report to Ancillary Services on a day to day basis and will be responsible for set up of various facilities throughout the StFX campus including but not limited to Keating Centre, Saputo Centre, Bloomfield Centre and Coady. This position may also assist the Supervisor of Bar Services in setting up events or delivering of items required for a bar. Please note that these positions requires a flexible work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out assigned set ups of facilities across the StFX campus
Operate vehicles when required, in a safe efficient way according to relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
Advise supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs of any equipment or furniture.
Maintain daily records of setups.
Use all appropriate personal protective equipment necessary to carry out their assigned tasks safely.
Be available to work a flexible schedule, which could include weekends and evenings.
Respond to after hour call-ins and overtime.
Qualifications
Ability to lift and maneuver a minimum of 25kgs.
Knowledge of scheduling system, procedures and record keeping system.
Knowledge of, understand and adhere to Occupational Health Act of Nova Scotia (including new Workplace Health and Safety Regulations) as well as StFX’s Joint Occupational Health & Safety Policies and Procedures Manual
Must process a Class 3 or higher Nova Scotia driver’s license and ability to operate trucks in a safe and responsible manner.
Ability to perform computer data input, produce reports and respond to emails in a timely manner. As well, have the ability to apply basic mathematics to job requirements.
Skill in client service and public interaction skills.
Analytical, problem solving skills and decision making skills.
Effective verbal and listening communication skills and be able to communicate effectively.
Knowledge of, understand and adhere to Occupational Health Act of Nova Scotia (including new Workplace Health and Safety Regulations) as well as StFX’s Joint Occupational Health & Safety Policies and Procedures Manual.
