The Position:

At the new and exciting Maersk Coolstore, located strategically at the Ruakura Superhub in-land port, this position offers a rare opportunity to help create and stand up a new team in a cutting-edge environmentally friendly Greenstar rated facility servicing New Zealand’s primary industry sector.

The Operations Manager is a key leadership position on site, responsible for the inbound to outbound operational processes, inclusive of any special projects to be delivered. This role is expected to ensure high levels of operational delivery performance, whilst maintaining the highest level of safety standards and people leadership on site, driving a high-performance culture & staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

• The role is a senior leader for the site and will focus on the growth and mentoring of the Maersk operations team
• Drive the communication and engagement plan of the site, role model the values
• Ensure the team is adopting a high-performance culture to positively move forward the objectives of the site
• Ensure that the operational team delivers high performance without compromising on people and product safety
• This role will ensure delivery commitments are met in full and that operational process is effective, efficient, and compliant throughout the site
• Overall responsible for ensuring the team is aware of the relevant compliance and operations procedures
• Will be working closely with the CX Account Manager to put together robust schedule for the facilities and plans around resourcing, equipment and materials requirements
• Responsible for inventory management and compliance and will work closely with both the HSSE and Quality and Compliance teams to ensure that the facility is always compliant
• Applies problem solving techniques to reach root causes of issues, and proactively applies counter measures
• Understands the wider organization and business environments, as well as inter dependencies across departments
• Uses mentoring skills to develop Site team members

What we are looking for:

• Soft skills: A leader with good people management skills, an inspiring leader who takes a collaborative approach with the team
• Someone who has at least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role coming from a relevant industry like FMCG, meat or dairy
• Previous cold store experience would be advantageous
• With sound knowledge of operational compliance to the primary industry sector
• Working knowledge of MPI requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and excellent attention to detail
• Works autonomously under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Experience with involvement in both internal and external audits
