Job Description - Operations Manager - Fabrication

The Operations Manager - Fabrication oversees all manufacturing activities related to copper fabrication, bending, drilling, punching, finishing and sheet metal powder coating. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient operations, leading supervisors, leads and fabricators to meet daily and long-term performance goals while coordinating closely with Engineering, Quality, and Planning.


Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Surrey offices and does not offer remote work. This role will report into the Director of Operations, Fabrication. 


Key Responsibilities:


Manage daily busbar fabrication operations across shifts, and facilities ensuring SQDC target achievement.
Lead Supervisors in workforce management, capacity planning, and cross-training.
Achieve throughput, scrap reduction, utilization, and cost targets through strong performance monitoring.
Drive root-cause analysis for quality defects, downtime events, and rework in partnership with Engineering and Maintenance.
Ensure compliance with fabrication standards, electrical requirements, and critical quality specifications.
Collaborate with Fabrication Engineering on tooling improvements, CNC program optimization, and automation readiness.
Coordinate with Planning to ensure accurate capacity modeling, schedule attainment, and prioritization across buildings.
Implement Lean practices, material flow improvements, and cycle-time reduction initiatives.
Maintain consistent execution of 5S, standard work, visual controls, and daily management routines.
Provide performance reporting, highlight risks, and escalate issues to the Director of Fabrication.


Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Technology, or related technical field.
5+ years experience in busbar, copper fabrication, or precision metal manufacturing.
Proven leadership managing supervisors and technicians.
Strong understanding of CNC bending, drilling, punching, insulation, and material-flow principles.
Proven knowledge of pretreatment chemistry, coating application, curing processes, and quality control. (it is an asset)
Experience with ERP systems (Infor SyteLine preferred).
Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent analytical tools is an asset.
Lean/CI experience and structured problem-solving capability.
Familiarity with OEE, MES, or industrial automation systems is an asset.


 


Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.


[Compensation Range: $123,000 - 152,000 CAD]
