Operations Specialist

What is the opportunity?

As an Operations Specialist, you will serve as a critical quality control function for the Operational Excellence team within Production Services. You'll oversee complex, exception-based processes daily, ensuring systems and departmental operations execute as designed while identifying and escalating issues appropriately.

What you will do?

• Execute daily oversight of complex, exception-based processes to validate system performance against design specifications. Run and analyze reports to identify and resolve exceptions while maintaining full compliance with regulatory and firm policy requirements.

• Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders—including other Operations departments, RBC Business Units, external customers, and industry participants—requiring research, problem resolution, or information retrieval. Address escalated issues independently, escalating to management only when appropriate, while adhering to established departmental procedures.

• Identify and recommend process enhancements and system modifications to reduce operational risk and increase efficiency. Participate in testing, validation, and implementation of new systems and operational processes.

• Train, mentor, and serve as a resource for less experienced Operations team members, fostering skill development and operational consistency.

• Provide accurate analysis and processing support for manual, exception-based, and highly specialized operational processes. Review, verify, and record data into systems with precision and attention to regulatory requirements.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

What do you need to succeed?

Must haves:

• 4-year degree from an accredited university or equivalent OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 3+ years of securities, banking, technology and/or job specific industry experience

• 1+ year prior securities, banking, technology industry and/or job specific related industry

• Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel and Access with the ability to build reports and queries; working knowledge of SQL for data analysis and retrieval.

• Ability to effectively train, lead and provide work direction to others

• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment

• Maintain forward-thinking approaches to identify process improvements and implement automation or enhanced workflows.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with brokerage systems

• Canadian Securities license
