The Court Services Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice is dedicated to excellent service and the provision of fair and accessible system of justice, including court administration and security.
The Division provides administrative support to the courts listed: Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (including Family Division), Provincial Court, Family Court, Small Claims Court, Probate Court and Bankruptcy Court. The courts act independently from the government to address individual cases.
Sheriff Services is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice. Our employees contribute to the maintenance of a just, peaceful, and safe society by maintaining responsibility for Court security, the transportation of prisoners, and service of civil documents in the Province. As Sheriff, you are accountable for the performance and delivery of Sheriff Services (both operationally and managerially) to all levels of court. This includes managing human, financial and technical resources.
Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
In this position, you provide support for and deliver excellent customer service to the Judiciary, while maintaining effective working relationships with the legal community, other government departments, senior Court officials, and the public.
To be considered for this opportunity, you hold a university degree and several years of management experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience may be considered.
Through your experience, you are familiar with Court systems, and understand Safety, Court security and transportation of prisoners in custody.
In addition, you possess the following skills/qualifications:
The following would be considered assets: An operational understanding of weapons systems in a law enforcement environment, including critical incident management. A background in Justice, policing, security, or civil enforcement related environments.

Salary Range: $3,247.28 - $4,059.12 Bi-Weekly
