Position Overview
We are seeking an Outdoor Educational Consultant to join our Educational Department and play a vital role in creating and delivering educational programs for children in grades 1-8. You will be responsible for facilitating engaging, hands-on nature play workshops; onsite school field trips; organizing and managing educational materials; and moderating and co-hosting virtual workshops, webinars, and internal training sessions.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about outdoor education, adaptable to dynamic environments, and have strong communication skills (written and verbal). This role requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to adapt to changing environments and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitation
Creating and delivering educational programs for children in grades 1-8. Lead and assist in the delivery of in-person nature play workshops for children and mentorship training for educators, promoting the educational and developmental benefits of outdoor play.
Lead and assist in the delivery of internal onboarding and professional learning sessions.
Logistics & Setup
Coordinate the preparation, loading, and setup of loose part materials and curriculum tools (e.g., planks, milk crates, ropes, stumps) at workshop and school sites.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 24 kg.
Environmental Adaptability
Work outdoors in all weather conditions, ensuring safety and comfort for participants.
Client Consultation
Engage and consult with clients during workshops to customize the experience to their specific needs and goals.
Virtual Training
Co-host, host, and moderate virtual webinars and workshops via Zoom, providing support to participants and ensuring smooth operation.
Travel & Scheduling
Travel to various sites across Ontario, including potential overnight stays.
Early morning start times (6 am - 7 am) and occasional weekend work are required.
Sales and Marketing Support
Assist the sales and marketing team with client outreach.
Support content creation for blogs and newsletters.
Administrative Support
Take notes during educational sessions and organize documentation.
Provide general office and administrative support as required.
Assist the Director of Education with company-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
2-5 years of professional experience as an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).
Ontario Teachers College Certification required.
Previous experience in outdoor education is a strong preference.
Passionate about working with children and the outdoors.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
Good active listening skills.
Represents the company in a professional manner.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
Proficiency in Google Suite and Zoom is required.
A valid G driver's license.
