About the Program
The Surrey Reaching Home Program (SYRHP) is a housing support program that assists youth and young adults up to age 24 in Surrey and Delta who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. The program focuses on housing stability and prevention by supporting youth to secure and maintain safe, appropriate housing. Supports include individualized housingâfocused support, assistance with accessing income supports, housing advocacy, landlord mediation, moving and setup assistance, and referrals to ongoing communityâbased services.
Position Summary
The Outreach Housing Worker is part of the Youth Housing team and provides 1-1 case management and support to diverse youth residing in within PCRS-run homes, community homes as well as supports youth with housing search in the community.
Staff help develop personal plans, provide life skills and support group activities such as house meetings and outings. This position involves developing relationships with youth as well as liaising with professionals such as social workers, school personnel, and community staff. Workers may also provide moving assistance, landlord advocacy, and mediation.
