Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a Youth Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role 

As an Outreach Volunteer, you will be responsible for: 

• Educating the Public About Friends of Ruby 

• Tell members of the public about Friends of Ruby, including our mission, services, and programs 

• Answer questions about Friends of Ruby (to the best of your ability) 

• Thank anyone who donates or intends to donate to Friends of Ruby 

• Set Up and Take Down 

• If you are able, help set up the table of outreach materials, ensuring all materials are neatly displayed and visible 

• At the end of the outreach engagement, if you are able, help take down and pack up all outreach materials 

What You Bring 

Qualifications: 

• Comfortable speaking to the public for up to 4 hours. 

• Able to commute around the GTA. 

• Commitment to social justice, anti-racism, anti-oppression, housing first approach, harm reduction approach, and trauma-informed care. 

Assets: 

• Identifies as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. 

• Knowledge and experience in the sector. 

• Ability to support setting up and taking down the outreach table.
