SLCS is currently seeking a Full Time Overnight Justice Worker at MLA Centre. As a member of this interdisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, crisis intervention, discharge planning and support services as needed. You will be expected to assess clients’ skills and needs, particularly in regard to their mental health and addiction issues, in addition to advocacy for clients involved in the criminal justice system. You will liaise with other services i.e. Probation/Parole officers, National Monitoring Centre, as well as other supports as required.
In addition to these elements of the position, you will be responsible for the safety and security of the clients and other staff during your shift. You have the ability to work within grey areas while providing supports from a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens. You are able, and comfortable, to de-escalate clients in crisis situations, and have some experience with the unpredictable nature of working with individuals with mental health and addictions. You will also be able to work collaboratively with other team members to complete administrative functions.
You will be skilled at working with clients from diverse populations, as an independent worker with strong initiative to complete tasks as needed. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all the applicable and regulatory requirements. This position is primarily located at MLA Centre.
