Parts Assistant

SMS Equipment is seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Parts Assistant to support our Parts Department and Hose Shop operations. In this role, you will provide daily administrative and clerical support to the Parts Department, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with established procedures. This role is ideal for someone who excels in administrative accuracy, enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, and is committed to delivering high‑quality support to internal customers.

Work Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Salary: $ 60,000 - $65,000 annually
Work arrangement: Fixed on site – working 5 days a week from the office
Schedule: Monday to Friday

What You'll Do

• Perform day‑to‑day administrative duties supporting the Parts Department.


• Assist with overflow expediting of back orders from KA stock purchase orders.


• Maintain Komatsu and Carrier claims related to shortages or damages.


• Support weekly parts orders across multiple vendors.


• Process cash receipts accurately and forward them to Head Office.


• Complete daily hotlinking and audit requests as required.


• Open and close Hose Room work orders for stock and customer orders.


• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Component and Inventory Superintendent.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate will have a grade 12 diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of 2 years of administrative experience. Additional qualifications include:

• Experience within a parts department is an asset.


• Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word; experience with computerized inventory systems (eXtend, etc.) is an asset.


• Understanding of service and part‑related transactions and process flow.


• Highly self‑driven with a mindset for process improvement.


• Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
