Trevor Frances Recruitment is partnering with a client to find a detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Administrator. This position is responsible for managing Canadian and U.S. payrolls, administering employee benefits and retirement plans, and ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in processing payrolls, maintaining employee records, and supporting HR and finance teams with timely and accurate data.
+ Process new hires, employee updates, and terminations in Dayforce across various payroll groups, including hourly, salaried, and drivers’ payrolls.
+ Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing by validating payroll results and conducting reasonability checks.
+ Handle special payroll runs such as bonuses, as required.
+ Administer U.S. payrolls as needed.
+ Maintain complete and accurate personnel records.
+ Process garnishments and family support orders in compliance with legal requirements.
+ Lead employee orientation sessions related to pay, benefits, and pension enrollment.
+ Enroll employees in group benefits and retirement plans, and audit setups to ensure accuracy against benefit billing.
+ Coordinate and arrange benefit-related payments and reconciliations.
+ Prepare and document payroll, pension, and benefits processes and procedures.
+ Post payroll and accrual journal entries to JDE and reconcile month-end and year-end reports, including T4s.
+ Manage contributions and payments to pension plans, RRSPs, and TFSAs, ensuring all reconciliations are completed accurately.
+Generate reports related to payroll and benefits to support internal stakeholders.
+ Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
+ Navigate payroll processing deadlines and benefit administration efficiently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and compliance.
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll and benefits administration.
+ Strong knowledge of payroll and accounting principles, including payroll accounting, month-end close, and accruals.
+ Proficient in web-based payroll systems—Dayforce experience is preferred.
+ Experience with U.S. payroll considered an asset.
+ Certification through the National Payroll Institute (PCP or equivalent) is an asset.
+ Familiarity with integrated ERP systems such as JDE or E1.
+ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
+ Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships across the organization using tact and professionalism.
+ Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.
+ Strong customer service mindset with the ability to understand and meet internal stakeholder needs.
+ Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to team initiatives.
