The Fort McKay First Nation is seeking an organized individual with strong attention to detail to fill the Payroll Clerk position. The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing payroll accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations. This role involves handling employee payroll records, calculating wages, processing deductions, and resolving payroll-related inquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and update employee information, such as records of employee attendance, leave and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements, in Canadian and other currencies, using manual or computerized systems
Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishments and insurance and pension plans
Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay
Complete, verify and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plans, leaves, share savings, employment and medical insurance
Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as remittances, year-end tax statements, pension, Records of Employment and other statements
Provide information on payroll matters
Compile, review, and monitor statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts
Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements
Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
May be responsible for the development or implementation of payroll policies, procedures or processes.
Perform other duties as required.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
1-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage, ADP, Ceridian, BambooHR, etc.).
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws.
Payroll designations ((PCP, PLP) are considered an asset
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Required
Valid Class 5 Drivers License, with Clean Drivers Abstract
