Duties and Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Process retail prescriptions safely, accurately, and efficiently, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory standards and established pharmacy workflows.
- Patient Consultation: Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals regarding proper medication use, dosage administration, therapeutic indications, side effects, drug-food interactions, and storage requirements.
- Clinical Oversight: Provide professional oversight and delegate tasks to pharmacy technicians and support staff in accordance with regulations and pharmacy policy.
- Inventory Management: Review inventory levels, place orders, verify receipt of medications, and proactively identify efficient, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.
- Specialized Dispensing: Safely observe and dispense accurate methadone doses and perform accurate verification of compliance and blister packaging.
- Administrative & Billing: Liaise with third-party insurance companies to resolve billing issues and maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
- General Practice: Provide expert patient counseling for both prescription and over the counter (OTC) medications and perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Licensure: Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Kroll pharmacy software is required.
- Communication: Superior interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Preferred Assets: Experience with methadone dispensing and previous experience within an independent pharmacy environment are considered significant assets.
- Customer Service: A proven commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and patient care.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience is preferred; however, newly licensed applicants demonstrating strong clinical potential will be considered.
$60 - $65 an hour
