Job Description - Philanthropy Coordinator

Make a Meaningful Impact in the Lives of Albertans

At the Alberta Cancer Foundation, we exist to create more hope and more moments for Albertans facing cancer, no matter where they live or the type of cancer they’re facing. But we can’t do it alone. It is the collective actions of our team – alongside our volunteers, partners and donors that are pivotal to ensuring every Albertan facing cancer has the support they need and the treatment they deserve, now and into the future.

Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Coordinator will be the first point of contact for our donors and serve as the connector between them and the Alberta Cancer Foundation. This front-facing role will require someone professional, compassionate, and able to remain calm in various circumstances. You thrive on developing and nurturing relationships and have above average customer service and communication skills. In this role, no two days will look the same and you will experience first-hand the impact of your work.

How You'll Contribute

Donor Engagement / Frontline Support

  • Accept gifts from individuals in person or by telephone

  • Assist donors requiring support or guidance when donating including 3rd party community events

  • Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s Gift Acceptance Policy & Gift Designation Guidance

  • Consistently provide a high level of customer service when assisting all guests who reach out to the Foundation (email, phone, in person)

  • Redirect all communications appropriately and professionally, including incoming calls, mail and visitor inquiries

  • Maintain relationships by handling questions or concerns with professionalism and accuracy

  • Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of the Foundation’s funding priorities

  • Support leadership in any onsite meeting or event

  • Cultivate knowledge of the new cancer center to assist with requests

Philanthropy Support

  • Support philanthropy team database management to consistently track donor information and activities

  • Support sponsorship and/or donor solicitations as required

  • Assist with prospect management as assigned

  • Assist with donor tour logistics of the Cross Cancer Institute as required

  • Provide customer-service on incoming community event questions, data entry and ad hoc requests

Acknowledgement & Stewardship

  • Make donor thank you calls

  • Assist with donor recognition and stewardship activities (i.e. reports, tours, receptions, meeting room requests, grand rounds and information sessions) as required

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative or coordination role

  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer and donor service, with the ability to adapt to diverse needs and circumstances

  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively

  • Consistently professional demeanor, representing the organization with integrity

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional correspondence

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Background Check

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle

Why Join the Alberta Cancer Foundation?

We offer a flexible, supportive workplace where your well-being matters—along with a competitive compensation package, professional development opportunities, and the chance to work alongside a passionate, mission-driven team.
