Job Description - Philanthropy Officer, Annual Giving

Opportunity


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Annual Giving, this role is responsible for executing and optimizing the Foundation’s annual giving program, a key source of reliable undesignated revenue. As part of an integrated philanthropy model, the Annual Giving Officer leads the planning, execution, and optimization of multi-channel direct response initiatives that acquire, retain, and upgrade donors at scale.



This role contributes to building a strong pipeline of future mid-level and major gift donors while supporting a culture of philanthropy across the organization.


The Annual Giving program is an important source of reliable undesignated income for the Foundation with funds raised through direct mail, tele-fundraising, online giving, face-to-face fundraising, and tribute or commemorative giving.



How You'll Contribute


Annual Giving Execution



  • Support the Senior Manager, Annual Giving in the planning, execution, and optimization of the annual giving program, with a focus on direct mail, digital, and integrated campaigns.

  • Coordinate with external agencies and internal teams to deliver direct response programs, including communicating strategic direction, reviewing copy and creative, and managing data requirements.

  • Partner with agencies and internal stakeholders to develop and execute effective direct mail, email, and digital fundraising campaigns.

  • Oversee and support execution of monthly giving and tribute programs as key components of the annual giving strategy.

  • Lead the development, execution, and optimization of monthly giving strategies, including acquisition, retention, and upgrade initiatives, in partnership with internal teams and external vendors.

  • Grow tribute giving as key entry and stewardship pathway for new donors supporting the ongoing evolution of tribute giving programs, including enhancements to donor experience, communications, and digital offerings (e.g., online tribute pages).

  • Analyze campaign and appeal performance against benchmarks and KPIs, identifying opportunities for optimization.

  • Produce timely reports on campaign performance and results.

  • Provide guidance to internal teams on direct response best practices, processes, and protocols.



Revenue Growth & Donor Lifecycle



  • Drive donor acquisition, retention, reactivation, and upgrade strategies across the annual giving program.

  • Analyze donor behavior to identify opportunities to increase lifetime value and deepen engagement.

  • Identify and execute opportunities to upgrade monthly and tribute donors into mid-level, major, and legacy giving streams.

  • Support the optimization of donor onboarding journeys, including welcome series and early engagement strategies for new and monthly donors.

  • Leverage donor insights and feedback to inform improvements to lifecycle strategies and donor experience.

  • Support identification of storytelling opportunities, donor testimonials, and engagement content emerging from annual giving programs.

  • Support stewardship strategies delivered through scaled communications and standardized acknowledgment approaches.



Administration



  • Maintain meticulous notes and accurate donor records, including interactions, preferences, and relevant donor information within CRM systems.

  • Ensure data integrity across annual, monthly, and tribute giving records, including contact details, recognition preferences, and engagement history.

  • Monitor and report on performance metrics across annual giving programs, including revenue, retention, response rates, and engagement.

  • Translate data and campaign insights into actionable recommendations to improve performance and inform decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to track progress against targets and KPIs.

  • Identify trends, best practices, and opportunities to grow unrestricted revenue across annual giving streams.

  • Work collaboratively with Philanthropy, Marketing, and Stewardship teams to support an integrated and consistent donor experience.

  • Remain knowledgeable about Foundation priorities, impact areas, and key messages for donor audiences.





What You'll Bring to the Team



  • A post-secondary degree in relevant discipline, including Business, Marketing, Communications, and/or combination of education, experience and training.

  • 5+ years of work experience in a non-profit organization, preferably focused on healthcare philanthropy. Please note that a different combination of education and work experience may be considered

  • Experience working on cross channel integrated direct response campaigns

  • Customer service experience, with demonstrated sensitivity to varied needs of customers is an asset

  • Ability to work independently

  • Experience in Salesforce and an understanding of CRA tax regulations for non-profit organizations

  • Have exceptional time management skills and strong attention to detail

  • Clear Criminal Record Check

  • Driver’s License & access to personal vehicle
