Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Monday–Friday, Day Shift with rotating weekends 

Status: Permanent Full-Time

The University Health Network is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary team specializing in Oncology Infectious Diseases. This position supports the care of complex oncology inpatients by providing expert clinical services under the supervision of five academic infectious diseases (ID) physicians. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing infectious complications in immunocompromised patients and ensuring continuity of care throughout hospitalization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive clinical support for hospitalized oncology patients with infectious diseases.
  • Perform detailed history taking, physical exams, diagnostic assessments, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborate daily with a team of infectious diseases attending physicians to deliver evidence-based care.
  • Coordinate with oncology teams, hospitalists, pharmacy, nursing, and ancillary services to ensure integrated patient management.
  • Monitor patient progress, document in the electronic medical record (EMR), and participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Educate patients and families on infectious diseases, preventive care, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in institutional infection control initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and clinical research opportunities as appropriate.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure (or eligibility) to practice as a PA in Ontario.
  • NCCPA certification.
  • Experience in infectious diseases, oncology, internal medicine, or hospital medicine preferred.
  • Exceptional clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for working with complex patient populations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with immunocompromised or transplant patients.
  • Familiarity with antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention strategies.
  • Comfort in managing complex cases and rapidly changing clinical scenarios.
