Within the context of a client service culture, the Physician Billing Assistant acts as an integral member of the Coastal Community of Care’s (CoC) Medical Affairs team by overseeing the Medical Service Plan (MSP) and private account billings for certain contracted physician services. Performs the inpatient MSP billing function including data submission, investigations, and analysis into related billing discrepancies and delinquent accounts, and takes corrective action. Provides administrative support for various billing projects ensuring accurate and timely delivery as required. Approves alternate payment arrangements and recommends write-offs for delinquent accounts. Ensures established billing periods are maintained, and directs the billing and account reconciliations using a variety of intermediate software applications, such as current word-processing and spreadsheet software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience Grade 12, graduation from a Medical Office Assistant program, plus one (1) year’s recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to keyboard at 45wpm. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
