Diesel Petroleum is a customer focused operations company with a 20+ year’s track record offering expertise in production and equipment solutions on well sites and facilities. Based out of Victoria BC, with a network of locations throughout western and northern Canada, with a primary focus on the Alberta/ B.C. region.
Diesel Petroleum to support their Oil Sands client. Please Note: hours, schedules, shifts and site locations may change from time to time to meet operational requirements.
The Pipefitters primary focus is to safely disassemble, inspect and assemble pumps according to specifications, instructions, layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings. Utilizes a variety of tools and processes to ensure effective disassembly and assembling of products and services.
Education, Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Must be a registered Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) Apprentice (2nd or 3rd year)
  • Must be able to read blueprints and understand written planning and follow verbal instructions
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines with safety as a priority
  • Ability to detect technical malfunctions and repair as required
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
  • Ensure that safety and other issues and suggestions are brought to the attention of the Manager.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and assemble a variety of pumps and rotating equipment.
  • Use sniffing equipment, paint booth, and appropriate PPE while disassembling hazardous pumps and equipment (i.e. process pumps).
  • Detecting defects and malfunctions of rotating equipment and repairing.
  • Refurbishing equipment and replacing parts to optimize output.
  • Obtaining feedback from the production department regarding the functioning of the pumps and equipment.
  • § Using cranes/hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools to accomplish disassembly and assembly objectives.
  • Balancing rotating equipment to specifications.
  • Grinding, sandblasting, cleaning and prepping material and equipment.
  • Use of chemicals and paints, and the review of SDS sheets to perform tasks.
  • Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Record required information (i.e. measurements, observations, etc.) in repair database.
  • Performs installations and maintenance work.
  • Non-destructive testing, as required.
  • Measuring dimensions and tolerances using instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Placing orders for spare and replacement parts and filing order forms and documentation.
  • Ensure pump and rotating equipment is tagged, painted, and prepared properly for shipping to customers.
  • Responsible to clean area at the end of a shift, at the end of a process, or when safety deems it necessary and/or when finished with a shared piece of equipment.
  • Maintain a tidy work area free of hazards; including shared work areas.
  • Any other job related, and support activity duties as required.
