Job Description

CEDA is looking to hire a General Foreman for our Fabrication Shop in Bonnyville Alberta. Candidates must be local to Bonnyville or willing to relocate. The successful candidate will oversee fabrication activities, supervise crews, ensure safety and quality compliance, and drive productivity while meeting project schedules and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all shop fabrication activities, including pipe fitting, welding, and assembly
  • Supervise welders, fitters, and shop personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Plan and schedule work to meet production targets, deadlines, and project priorities
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications & client requirements
  • Enforce company and regulatory safety standards and promote a strong safety culture
  • Monitor quality control, including fit-up, welding procedures, NDT readiness, and final inspection
  • Coordinate with project management, QA/QC, procurement, and logistics teams
  • Track labor hours, material usage, and productivity metrics
  • Identify and resolve production issues, manpower constraints, or equipment needs
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and production planning meetings
  • Provide hands-on support when necessary, including welding and fitting.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, promoting a strong team culture.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, attendance, materials, and incidents.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a structural fabrication shop environment.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Strong knowledge of pipe fabrication processes, welding methods, and materials
  • Understand and review drawings, review specifications, and bid packages to assess fabrication scope and provide input on project bids, labor hours, and material requirements
  • Journeyman Pipefitting Certification required
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Forklift, overhead crane, or other relevant certifications are an asset.
