Pit / Quarry Foreman

The Pit / Quarry Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily aggregate operations, ensuring safe, efficient production while meeting quality and volume targets. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on supervising crews, coordinating equipment, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership

• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture


• Conduct daily safety meetings, inspections, and hazard assessments


• Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and site requirements

Operations & Production

• Supervise daily pit/quarry activities including crushing, hauling, and stockpiling


• Coordinate crews and equipment to meet production targets


• Monitor material quality and production volumes


• Troubleshoot and adjust operations as needed

Equipment & Planning

• Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment uptime


• Assist with production planning and scheduling


• Complete daily reporting and track production metrics

Plan & Communicate

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Logistics teams


• Assist with short-term and long-term production planning


• Track and report on production metrics, issues, and progress


• Maintain accurate daily reports and documentation

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in aggregate, quarry, or heavy civil operations


• Previous supervisory or foreman experience


• Previous experience running excavators and loaders


• Strong knowledge of crushing, screening, and equipment operations


• Solid understanding of safety regulations in pit/quarry or mine environments


• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills


• Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions

• Site-based role with travel to pits/quarries as required


• Extended hours and weekends may be required based on production demands
