Local 1310 and external applicantsFROM: Human Resource Services Officer,Administrative and Support Staff ServicesSUBJECT: Available Position PLUMBER (CHEMICAL TREATMENT) 1.0 FTE Permanent position TheMaintenance Services Department of the Simcoe County District School Board isseeking qualified applicants for the position of Plumber (Chemical Treatment). Reportingto the Supervisor of Mechanical Systems, while working in a multi-disciplinaryteam this position provides emergency, preventive, and planned maintenance servicesto plant heating and cooling systems. Thisposition focuses particularly on chemical treatment of all closed loop heatingsystems, chilled water systems andcooling towers and associated equipment throughout Simcoe County DistrictSchool Board. Responsibilities includerepairing of mechanical pipe leaks, pumps, and associated equipment for heatingand cooling systems. SCHOOL LOCATION STATUS DAILY HOURS WEEKLY HOURS POSTING # ATE Ref. # Maintenance Services County wide 1.0 FTE - Full-Time Permanent Position 8.0 40.0 CU-50 3759234 Shift: As requiredSalary Range: $31.29 - $34.22 per hour (Plumber – BAS rate)Start Date: As soon as possible Qualificationsand Skills Required 1 A current Certificate of Qualification asa licensed Plumber/Steamfitter is required. 2 Applicants with that also posses asCertificate of Qualification as a Gas Fitter (G1) would be considered an asset. 3 Knowledge in the components andtreatment of closed water system loops.4 Knowledge of the design andoperation of open water treatment systems including cooling towers, fluidcoolers and evaporative coolers.5 Knowledge of water softenersystems including setup and operation.6 Ability to read, write and interpretelectrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.7 Experience with troubleshooting, serviceand repair of hydronic heating systems, HVAC and refrigeration, plumbing, gas, andoil burners, as well as associated auxiliary equipment and controls.8 Knowledge in the components and controlsequences of boilers, chillers, air handlers, hot water heating systemcomponents, DDC controls.9 Computer literacy and ability to workeffectively with a variety of computer software programs, such as MS Word,Excel, Outlook, and the Facility Services Computerized Maintenance Work ordersystem. 10 Excellentinterpersonal, communication and time management skills. 11 Ability to work asa team member in a multi-disciplined team and with staff, students, and generalpublic.12 The successfulincumbent will be required to be on-call after hours on a rotational basiswhich will classify this position as Plumber (BAS rate).13 A valid OntarioDrivers Licence is a requirement and proof thereof will be requested on hiring. PreferredQualifications and Skills 1. Working at Heights fall arrest safety training.2. Lock out tag out/Control of hazardous energy.3. Building Automations Systems.The duties,responsibilities and requirements for this position are not limited to theabove but may also include all of those in the Job Description for Plumber. Thisposition will be requiredto be on-call and/or work after hours where required on a rotational basis toassist with operational needs. Compensation will be provided for on-call workin accordance with the CUPE collective agreement.
