Sagkeeng Child and Family Services (SCFS) is a First Nations CFS Agency who strives to recruit inspired, accountable and driven individuals to join our diverse talented team of professionals. We are currently recruiting for permanent fulltime Post Majority Workers for our Winnipeg. 


 


Job Summary and Qualifications



Will support the safety and well-being of youth and young adults aging out of care up to the age of 25 years. They will assist youth and young adults to connect to internal and external services and resources including connections to family and the community.


 


Areas of specialty: 


 


To work jointly with the family in providing all necessary services that will reunify and/or preserve the family unit including lowering risk to children and families by linking those families to the resources to enhance the skill and ability of all family members.


 


Qualifications:





  • Completed Bachelor of Social Work degree preferred; any post-secondary degree in the Social Services with 1yrs direct CFS experience; Combination of education and experience may be considered.



  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and fully insured vehicle with $2,000,000.00 liability insurance.


 


Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):



  • Participate in planning for transitioning youth/young adults including identifying and maintaining connection to family, extended family, and community.

  • Support youth and young adults in (re)connecting meaningfully with their families, culture, and communities, and accessing supports that promote reunification or repatriation.

  • Ensure youth and young adults have access to financial support; learning, educational, and professional development opportunities; safe, stable, and comfortable housing; physical, mental, and social wellbeing; connect with land, culture, language, and community.

  • Consult with internal and external collaterals in the provision of services.

  • Contact former and existing youth and young adults in care who meet the post majority criteria to enroll in voluntary services with post majority program.

  • Actively seek guidance from the cultural staff on how to incorporate culture into the position or how to work from a cultural perspective.

  • Work closely with Biidaaziiway Gamik staff.

  • Support youth and young adults to be fully independent and identify their own interests to support their well-being for their life-long success. 

  • Assist youth and young adults to participate in cultural programming.

  • Ensure confidentiality and safekeeping of all documents and records.

  • Other duties as required or assigned.


 


 


Qualified candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check, child abuse registry check, and a prior contact check as a condition of employment.  Sagkeeng Community members and Indigenous candidates will be given preference and are encouraged to self-identify as being of Indigenous descent.
