Job Description - Power Systems Automation Specialist

Eaton\u2019s Electrical sector is currently seeking a Power Systems Automation Specialist to join our team. This position can based at either one of our offices in Mississauga, Kitchener, Whitby, Kingston and Ottawa, ON and offers benefits from day one as well as a company vehicle. \n\nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $69000 - $87000 a year. \n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe primary purpose of this position is to provide a full-service systems integrator with the capabilities to integrate the necessary equipment and technologies, to provide a complete, power automation solution. This team of engineers and technicians brings extensive skills and experiences with a variety of leading HMI software packages enabling us to design graphically rich, easy-to-use operator interfaces that take advantage of the latest standalone or web-based technologies. Our experience transcends a multitude of equipment manufacturers, software packages, and network architectures, including all major OEM\u2019s HMI, PLC\u2019s, and components. We offer single point responsibility, a high level of engineering and systems integration expertise, and a unified focus on cost effective solutions, seamless integration, HMI development, energy management tools, and professional turnkey system design and implementation\n\n \nIn this function you will:\n\n\u2022 Provide on-site implementation of Power Management and mission critical monitoring and control systems including Power Xpert, Foreseer, PowerNet, and next generation Power Monitoring platforms. \n\u2022 Provide applied engineering and consultation to customers in the areas of system integration, installation, start-up, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, training and modification of power management, control, and mission critical systems. \n\u2022 Design and programming of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control systems \n\u2022 Design and implement advanced power transfer and other control schemes including Main-Tie-Main transfer schemes, load shedding/ peak shaving schemes, breaker control schemes, SCADA system development, and generator control. Experience with relay logic is preferred. \n\u2022 Quote advanced turnkey power monitoring and control schemes. (analyze specifications, price all applicable labor and materials, write a proposed scope of work, etc.)\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nBasic (Required) Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree or a Technologist Diploma in a technical discipline (Electrical/ Mechanical/ Systems/ Computer Engineering/ Computer Science). \n\u2022 Minimum 1 year of experience working with ICS (Industrial Control Systems) automation or PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) programming or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)\n\n\u2022 Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver\u2019s license.\n\n\u2022 Business travel to customer sites is required.\n\n\u2022 Required to travel to United States for training on safety and Eaton products.\n\n\u2022 Legally authorized to work in the Canada without company sponsorship now or in future. \n\u2022 Must live within 80 km of the facility.\n\n \nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 3+ years of experience working with ICS (Industrial Control Systems) automation or PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) programming or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).\n\n\u2022 Experience in the practice of safety precautions related to working with automation and electrical distribution systems.\n\n## Skills:\n\n\u2022 Understanding of electrical control schematics and single line diagrams. \n\n\u2022 Knowledge of AutoCAD. \n\u2022 Knowledge of troubleshooting, test and repair techniques. \n\u2022 Strong computer skills required with Windows Server Operating Systems and SQL Databases. \n\u2022 Basic networking skills including the ability to troubleshoot network hardware and interfaces. \n\u2022 Knowledge of electrical test equipment and diagnostic instruments. \n\u2022 Programming of PLC control systems an asset. \n\u2022 Knowledge of cyber security principles an asset. \n\u2022 Commissioning experience an asset. \n\u2022 Ability to interface with internal and external customers, salespeople, and other team members on a technical level. \n\u2022 Excellent interpersonal and communication/ presentation skills \n\u2022 Self-motivated individual who can perform both independently and in a team environment.\n\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy. \n\nAt Eaton we leverage artificial intelligence to recommend jobs to you that match the skills and experience required for the open role.
