Job Description - Power Systems Studies EIT

Description

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta based company specializing in engineering, design, and testing / commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances, such as IEC 61850, to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from preliminary engineering through to the commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Power Systems Studies EIT to join our team on a full-time basis in our BC office. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.  

Education & Experience

  • 1-2 years related electrical field - electrical manufacturing i.e. Familiarity with electrical equipment.
  • Someone motivated to learn power system studies would be required.
  • Strong verbal communication abilities, good organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Registered EIT in Canada, P.E. would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PSS/E, ( knowledge of WinIGS, CDEGS would be an asset)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong understanding of IEEE standards and Canadian Electrical Code
  • Experience in performing the following electrical studies:
    • Load flow, short circuit, protection coordination and arc flash study
    • Motor starting study
    • Insulation coordination and transformer energization study
    • Utility interconnection studies for renewable resources such as wind and solar.
    • Grounding study

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work with the Substation and T&D Line Design team to understand study requirements and provide inputs for equipment specifications/selection
  • Work with Seniors conducting power system study projects  
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, calculations
  • Participate in client design/review meetings
  • Assisting with study project development, scope, and budget
  • Co-ordinate field site visits for data collection for system studies, analyze and interpret site data

Salary range: $70,000-$100,000 (excepted yearly earnings may vary)
