The Opportunity.

Smart & Biggar is currently looking for a Process Improvement Analyst to join our National Finance Team on a 12-month contract.

This role will play a key part in assessing, documenting, and improving billing and finance-related processes across the firm, with an initial focus on our centralized billing initiative.

Working closely with the Finance team, legal professionals, and Operations,you will identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, standardize practices, and support the successful adoption of new ways of working.

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys understanding how work gets done, and can translate complex, fragmented processes into clear, efficient, and scalable operating models.

The successful candidate will be responsible for documenting current-state processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, designing future-state workflows, developing SOPs and process documentation, and supporting implementation and change adoption across the business.

Responsibilities.

• Lead discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops to understand current-state workflows, pain points, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement


• Document current-state and future-state processes, workflow diagrams, SOPs, and operational procedures


• Analyze processes and identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce duplication, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve operational effectiveness while maintaining appropriate controls and governance


• Develop recommendations to standardize processes and create consistent ways of working across teams, offices, and business functions


• Partner with Finance, Billing, Operations, and other stakeholders to design and implement practical process improvements


• Facilitate discussions and build consensus across stakeholder groups with differing priorities and requirements


• Support implementation activities, including communication planning, training materials, user guides, and change adoption strategies


• Monitor outcomes, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

Qualifications, competencies and experience.

• 5+ years of experience in Process Improvement, Business Process Management, Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Operations, or a related field


• Demonstrated experience documenting and redesigning current-state and future-state business processes


• Experience developing SOPs, workflow documentation, process maps, and operational procedures


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions


• Experience facilitating workshops and engaging stakeholders across multiple business functions


• Experience supporting organizational change, training, and process adoption initiatives.


• Experience within professional service or similar environments is considered an asset


• CBAP, PMP, Prosci, Lean, Six Sigma, or related certifications are considered assets

Compensation.

The base salary for this role will be positioned between $90,000 - $105,000 taking into consideration factors such as location, job-related knowledge, prior experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
