Job Description - Procurement Officer 2024-ADMIN-029

Position Overview:


Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administrator, the procurement officer is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the procurement activities of the organization. The procurement officer ensures that the organization obtains the best value for money for the goods and services it requires, while complying with the relevant policies and procedures. The successful applicant procurement officer is responsible for vendor and contract management to ease the operational buying process and for supplier’s onboarding and supplier relationships including carrying out, procurement best practice aligned with the Broder Public Sector (BPS).


Qualifications Desired:



  • A bachelor’s degree/diploma in business administration, finance, supply chain management or a related field is required.

  • Completion of Ontario Public Buyer’s Association (OPBA) Principles Certificate would be considered an asset.

  • Holding or working towards Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) designation an asset.

  • Experience with construction contracts and knowledge of legislation and trade agreements would be considered an asset.

  • At least three years of relevant experience in procurement, contract management or a related field.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of procurement, including sourcing, bidding, negotiating, contracting and monitoring.

  • Knowledge of the applicable laws, regulations and policies governing procurement such as BPS.

  • Knowledge of the market conditions and trends, and the availability and quality of the goods and services required by the organization.

  • Knowledge of procurement software and Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Outlook.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions and judgments.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • High ethical standards and integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to cope with changing and challenging situations.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into procurement needs.

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.

  • Strong customer service orientation
