Job Description - PRODUCER, EXPO 2025 OSAKA (internal candidates only)

Key Activities

***This position is open to internal candidates only.***

The Producer reports to the Executive Producer and is responsible for all planning and logistics related to the on-stage activities at Expo 2025 Osaka. Once the Executive Producer books productions/performers and terms are negotiated, and the contract is finalized, the Producer will ensure that all contract terms are met (payment amounts, method of payment and timing, production riders, billing and crediting, marketing and promotion, complimentary tickets, etc.).

The Producer works in collaboration with the local NAC Artists and Logistics Manager to oversee contractors / companies and on-site production staff to manage all logistics related to the event, including artist transportation and accommodation, venue scheduling, equipment rentals, backstage hospitality, etc. They also assist in applications for required visas / work permits, security clearances and accreditations, vaccinations and other entry requirements.

The Producer sets and manages the planning timeline for the event and ensures that key deadlines are met. They also manage the budget for the productions and events during their term, tracking expenses for all productions and maintaining an accurate forecast.

In the lead-up to, and during the event, the Producer is in regular contact with the on-site Expo team (Production Manager, Technical Director, and Artist Liaisons), managing detailed schedule information such as flight arrivals and departures, ground transportation arrangements, set-up/rehearsal/performance schedules, media interviews, receptions, and special activities, etc. They also work with the Executive Producer and local contractors to troubleshoot any issues that arise during the event.

Skill Requirements

•Post-secondary degree in a related field and approximately 8-10 years of experience within the Canadian performing arts environment or equivalent combination of education and experience;
•Familiarity with all aspects and genres of live performance, particularly the Canadian Arts Scene;
Comprehensive understanding of the business aspects of the variety and entertainment field;
•Thorough knowledge of performance presentation in a theatrical environment including technical experience in live performance;
•An understanding of basic production and gear terminology in popular music, dance, and theatre
•Experience advancing performing arts production including working with artist teams, TDs, and production crews to develop stage schedules and present live performances on time and on budget;
•Experience with financial planning including budgeting, management and cost/revenue control.
•Experience in programming and keen sense of the current trends in the Canadian music platform;
•Experience working with managing details, time and competing interests;
•Proven ability to successfully cultivate new talent as well as building relationships and seeking new partnerships;
•Capacity to work effectively with artists, clients and colleagues with diverse experience and levels of skills;
•Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and MS Teams;
•Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing needs;
•Willingness to work within an irregular schedule depending on operational requirements;
•Bilingualism is an asset.
