Job Description - Producer, Special Features

At LumiQ, we’re on a mission to make professional education enjoyable. As a modern, audio-first learning platform, we empower accounting and finance professionals to fulfill their continuing professional development requirements through engaging podcasts. Over the past five years, we’ve cultivated a devoted customer base of over 1,000 corporate and accounting firms across North America.

LumiQ is proud to be a 2025 Deloitte Fast 50 winner. We’re creating awesome proprietary content, nailing our go-to-market strategy, and being the first to shake up the industry. Most recently, we secured a strategic investment from Vertu Capital to fuel our expansion globally and continue executing on our exponential growth plans.

LumiQ is also a certified Great Place to Work! We’re all about transparency, ownership, innovation, and empathy. If you’re ready to make a real impact and help us transform professional education, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re looking for a Producer to join our Special Features team, where we create highly produced,
long-form documentary stories that explore fascinating business topics.

Past examples of these episodes include: What Really Killed Kodak? Disney’s Acquisition of Pixar. Are
the Olympics Worth it? The Cola Wars.

Our Special Features are our most ambitious, highest impact, and highest listened-to podcast
episodes on our platform. As a Special Features Producer, with the help of the production team,
you’ll be the driving force behind bringing our high-quality, narrative episodes to life: from
pitching to interviewing guests to scripting and voicing.

Who You Are:

  • You have 3-5 years of experience: You have demonstrated experience in long-form, narrative podcasting or documentary-style storytelling. You have experience in producing audio, including pitching, gathering tape, interviewing guests, hosting, editing interviews for content, and working with audio engineers on sound design.

  • You are curious: You love going down rabbit holes to understand the full picture. Special Features are deep dives that blend creativity and business insight to engage and inform our audience. You’re able to integrate complex topics (bonus if they’re financial or strategic business concepts) into a narrative.

  • You are a skilled storyteller: You’re able to write complex narrative style documentary podcasts. From outlining to scripting, you have a knack for weaving together story and information into a compelling and comprehensible story.

  • You are organized: Our narrative episodes have a lot of depth and complexity and we often have several in production at the same time. This means a lot of moving pieces at once, so you must be able to balance projects, set and meet clear deadlines, and clearly communicate project progress.

  • You are a team player: You are collaborative and are able to incorporate editorial feedback to help make the best product possible. Experience working with audio engineers to shape impact and story is an asset.

  • Familiarity with production tools such as Descript and remote recording platforms is considered an asset.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Episode Development
    ○ Working with editorial team to research and pitch story ideas
    ○ Identifying the right angle, scope, and narrative arc for each episode
    ○ Identifying and enabling learning outcomes that emerge from the narrative i.e.capital allocation, investment strategy, M&A, fraud, etc.
    ○ Collaborating with the Associate Producer to research and find guests for each episode

  • Podcast Production
    ○ Conducting interviews with industry experts and guests with first hand experience
    ○ Hosting and voicing episodes
    ○ Integrating interview tape and scripting for maximum clarity and impact
    ○ Incorporating feedback from editorial team on outline and script drafts
    ○ Working with Audio Engineers to uphold production quality and sound design that enhances the story and strikes the right tone

The expected base salary for this position is: CAD $75,000 - $85,000. Salary is based on a number of factors including market conditions, location and may vary depending on job-related skills and experience.

If you think your experience is most of the way there we’d still love to meet you!

Please note this is a flexible hybrid role based out of Toronto, Canada. Employees will be expected to be able to commute to the office 1-2 times a week. However, for training & onboarding purposes, the in-office expectation time will increase.

Benefits and Perks:
-Health Benefits are available after 3 months with us, including a yearly health spending account. You'll also have access to an Employee Assistance Program for additional support if needed.
-Hybrid Work Style: The best of both worlds. Enjoy remote work and a downtown Toronto office with snacks, events, and ping pong.
-Monthly team social events: (Super Smash Bro party, hot chocolate bar, Blue Jays game, Hot One's Challenge are just a few examples of what we have done in the past).
-Schedule flexibility: We know our employees have lives outside of work and don’t mind if you need to run to a mid-day doctor's appointment or pick up a kid early from school!
-Nomad policy: Work remotely 4 weeks of the year from anywhere in the world.
-Endless Learning: Our platform isn't just for accountants. Listen to podcasts on soft skills, career development, leadership, and more.
-LumiQ Clubs: Join an existing club or start your own!
