Job Summary:
    
Precision soldering and component assembly under a microscope, test standard products made of fibre-optic assemblies, and to produce/assist creating new work instructions for their production.  Assemble and test  electronic components and PCB’s.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

    •    With the use of a Microscopic, Manufacture and alignment of electronic-optical assemblies according to Manufacturing Work Instructions

•    Builds Fibre-Optic assemblies using fine materials, such as; optical fibers, lenses, glass tubes, metal parts, epoxy adhesives, and other related materials.
•    Preparation of Fibre-Optic Cable and add Terminations when Required
•    Configure & Test Electronic/Fibre-Optic Modules.
•    Able to follow all work instructions and procedures   
•    Maintains the working environment in clean and proper arrangement.
•    Adherence to departmental and company policies and procedures. Including the 5 “S” Principles, ISO, misc. quality system procedures
•    Carry out other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned by Management
 

Requirements:
Education:    Post-secondary certificate in related field or commensurate experience

Experience:
Required: Microscopic Component Assembly/ Precision Soldering: 2-3 years
                   Must be detail oriented, precise and fast learner
                   Must be able to read, understand and follow instructions/drawings.

Preferred: Additional experience with Fibre-Optic electronic component assembly

Communication: Must be fluent in English.   Must be self-motivated, and be able to communicate well with all staff levels. Must have good math, verbal and written communication skills, and must be computer literate in Excel.


Physical Demands: Ability to work with a microscope for long periods of time
Good hand eye coordination, stable hands for delicate component assembly
Occasionally lifting < 50 lbs.


Mental Demands: Fast paced, working towards critical deadlines.

Working Conditions: Test lab environment.  Frequently working with 120VAC/240VAC.
