Job Description - Production Assistant

Located in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, Multi-Power Products Ltd. is one of Canada’s leading manufacturers of exploratory drilling and industrial equipment products. With over 40 years of history and operational success, we are looking to expand the team. Members of the Multi-Power team are expected to take a customer-first approach in all aspects of their work. The Production Assistant is a key part of our current Crown West Production team. This opportunity suits an individual who is meticulous and enjoys being part of a dynamic, high-energy workplace.


 


This position is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans that accurately depict the specifications and requirements for various steel fabrication projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in steel fabrication, a keen eye for detail, and proficiency in relevant drafting software.



Key responsibilities:



  • Technical Drawing Creation





    • Develop detailed drawings and plans based on specifications provided by engineers and clients.

    • Create accurate and precise 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

    • Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and company guidelines.




Collaboration:





    • Work closely with engineers, project managers, quality and fabrication teams to understand project requirements and constraints.

    • Provide technical support and clarification to the fabrication team during the production process.

    • Participate in project meetings to discuss progress and address any issues related to the drawings.




Revisions and Updates:





    • Make necessary revisions to drawings based on feedback from engineers, clients, and production teams.

    • Update and maintain drawing archives and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.




Quality Assurance:





    • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.

    • Conduct regular audits of drawings and documents to ensure quality and consistency.




Compliance and Standards:





    • Ensure all drawings and designs meet relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

    • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in drafting technology.




Material Specification:





    • Detail the types, grades, and specifications of materials to be used in fabrication.

    • Work with the procurement team to ensure the correct materials are ordered.




Qualifications:



  • Education: Structural Steel draft diploma, Engineering Technology, or a related field/on the job experience.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting, preferably in the steel fabrication industry.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

    • Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and materials.

    • Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and blueprints.



  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.




Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.

  • Occasional site visits may be required to gather information or resolve issues.


Work Environment



  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction with the shop floor and site visits as needed.

  • Collaborative and dynamic team environment.
