ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Production & Operations

  • Oversee and manage all live broadcast productions including news, sports, entertainment, and large-scale corporate events

  • Run day-to-day operations of the BMG Toronto facility — control rooms, studio, and mobile unit logistics

  • Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring all resources (personnel and equipment) are allocated efficiently and on time

  • Coordinate and supervise freelance production crews and staff across all BMG Canada productions

  • Conduct pre-production site surveys and location assessments to evaluate technical and logistical requirements

  • Oversee mobile unit deployments, flypack setups, and remote production logistics

  • Ensure all productions meet BMG's quality standards and are delivered on time and on budget

  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in real time during live productions

Budget & Resource Management

  • Source, negotiate, and manage vendor and equipment rental agreements to achieve best value without compromising quality

  • Track and report on all production expenditures; identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining production standards

  • Manage equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and asset tracking for the Toronto facility

  • Develop and maintain staffing plans, including freelance crew hiring and onboarding aligned with Canadian labor standards

  • Assist with United States productions as needed

Client & Stakeholder Relations

  • Serve as a primary client-facing contact throughout the production process — from initial brief through final delivery

  • Consult with clients to understand production requirements and translate them into detailed operational plans

  • Lead and conduct technical site surveys with clients and creative teams; produce detailed survey reports

  • Maintain and grow relationships with clients, broadcast networks, corporate production partners and freelance crews across Canada

  • Collaborate with the BMG business development team to support proposals, RFPs, and new client pitches with production expertise

Crew & Industry Relations

  • Leverage an established network of Canadian freelance production crew to staff productions efficiently and effectively

  • Maintain current knowledge of Canadian production crew standards, union agreements (IATSE, NABET, Unifor), and local labor regulations

  • Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative on-set culture consistent with BMG's values

  • Identify and develop emerging Canadian production talent to support BMG's long-term growth in the market

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years in a production management or senior operations role within the Canadian broadcast industry

  • Proven experience developing and managing production budgets from pre-production through reconciliation

  • Deep knowledge of multi-camera live production workflows, broadcast infrastructure, and remote/mobile production operations

  • Experience managing and scheduling production resources — crew, equipment, facilities, and logistics — for concurrent productions

  • Strong, established network of Canadian freelance production crew across camera, audio, lighting, engineering, and production roles

  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian local production crew standards, union agreements, and labor regulations

  • Experience conducting technical site surveys and producing detailed location assessment reports

  • Proven client-facing skills with the ability to translate client requirements into actionable production plans

  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solution-focused in high-pressure live production environments

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Must be located in Toronto and available to work in the BMG facility 5 days per week
