Job Description - Production Shift Manager

The Role:
We are seeking a Shift Manager to oversee PORTA's operations, reporting to the Production Manager and overseeing a team of 20-25 team members. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring food safety, optimizing productivity and efficiency, and managing multiple teams, including Packaging, Pizza Topping, Ingredient Prep, and Wash Bay areas. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Each area is vital to our production process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and team cohesion in their respective areas.

Food Safety and Quality:

  • Ensure all production activities comply with food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP protocols.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high standards of food safety and quality.
  • Implement and monitor food safety programs and corrective actions as necessary.


Productivity and Efficiency:

  • Monitor production processes to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance workflow and reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless production flow and timely delivery of products.

Team Management:

  • Lead, motivate, and support the Packaging, Pizza Topping, Ingredient Prep, and Wash Bay teams.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and employee engagement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.

Operations:

  • Identify and adhere to packaging specifications, ensuring all products meet regulations and high-quality standards.
  • Manage the pizza topping line, ensuring accurate and efficient topping of products.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the pizza topping team, ensuring high performance and engagement.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and quality, adhering to HACCP and GMP protocols.
  • Oversee the packaging area, ensuring smooth operation of the cartoner, metal detection, and overall packaging operations
  • Supervise the preparation of raw materials, including cutting and portioning ingredients.
  • Ensure all ingredients are prepped according to specifications and standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency within the team.
  • Oversee the wash bay area, ensuring all equipment and utensils are cleaned and sanitized according to company standards.
  • Manage the wash bay team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular inspections of cleaned equipment to maintain high hygiene standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Leadership: Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Availability: Tuesday-Thursday, 7PM-7AM and alternating Tuesday-Friday 7PM-7AM OR
    Saturday-Monday 7AM-7PM and alternating Saturday-Tuesday 7AM-7PM
